The Outer Islands are your reason for visiting Tonga. It is recommended that you visit as many islands as time permits. The Islands all have something different to offer and will make your holiday more enjoyable by learning the different cultures and experiencing different ways of island life. You can combine 2 islands, 3 islands, or 4 islands for a true outer island adventure. Outer Island combination packages range from 2 nights to 9 nights or we can customize your package to include any islands or length of stay.
Visit the pristine beaches of Foa Island on Ha'apai with excellent snorkelling and swimming. Ha'apai is a special haven for divers and snorkellers. Ha'apai is a retreat for those who are searching for a retreat. No pollution, no traffic, no crowds. Friendly island population, many idyllic islands to explore, beautiful lagoons, colourful reefs and miles of deserted white sand beaches fringed with coconut palms make for a perfect holiday retreat.

Visit the picturesque harbour on Vava'u and take a lagoon tour visiting some uninhabited islands and swim in Mariner's and Swallow's Cave. Port of Refuge Harbour is one of the most spectacular and beautiful natural harbours in the world. Vava'u is one of the most popular yacht cruising areas of the South Pacific. There is a choice of bare boat charters or fully provisioned services with a skipper and a cook. Visibility in the turquoise crystal clear waters of Vava'u generally extends 20 to 35 metres and the diving and snorkelling are magic. Sea kayaking and fishing are also a popular activities in Vava'u.

View the dramatic cliffs of Eua Island and visit the National Forest. Eua is quite different than the other islands of Tonga. It has rain forests, beaches, caves, rugged bush walks, a national park and magnificent scenery. Eua is a bird watchers paradise. View the sea bird colonies which nest on Eua's cliffs. Diving is also unique in Eua. It is a delight that many who have dived at the best spots in the world say that there is none better than the underwater caves of Eua.

You might like to explore the northern group islands of Niuatoputapu or Niuafo'ou. Niuatoputapu is a magical island with Tafahi in the background. There is excellent snorkelling and swimming. It is surrounded by beautiful beaches, small coastal fishing villages with elaborate churches. The island is ideal for walking and exploring. You can take a day trip to Tafahi and climb the volcanic cone in a day and hike around the barren lava flows. The view from the top of the volcano is magnificent. Activities on Niuatoputapu include fishing, snorkelling, swimming and walking. It is an undiscovered paradise and truly one of the most beautiful spots in the world.

Visiting Niuafo'ou is like visiting Polynesia from yesteryear. Most of the population travel by horseback as there are only a few vehicles on the island. Lake Vai Lahi, in the centre of the island is the highlight of Niuafo'ou. There are four islands in the lake and fishing is a popular pastime. A visit to Niuafo'ou is like a visit to no other.
If you truly want to experience the local people and the way of Polynesian life then you must holiday on Niuafo'ou. There are no restaurants, bars, or organized tourist activities. Experience a local umukai (feast) and stay in a local home.
